Origins and Crossroads Poetry Reading Honors Harriet Tubman, Celebrates National Poetry Month
GREENVILLE, S.C. - SCaroNews -- Harford County, Maryland native, poet and social justice advocate, Melissa Whiteford St. Clair, founder of White Girl Advocacy LLC will be in Dorchester County, Maryland for a Poetry Reading honoring Harriet Tubman during April, National Poetry Month. The Poetry Reading, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park, 4068 Golden Hill Road, Church Creek, MD 21622 on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
In celebration of National Poetry Month, join poet and Harford County native, Melissa Whiteford St. Clair as she shares a selection of original poems about Harriet Tubman and her journey on the matter of race electrified by Harriet Tubman's heroic flight to freedom.

About Melissa Whiteford St. Clair:
Founder of White Girl Advocacy, Melissa Whiteford St. Clair found herself emotionally affected by the rise of social injustice in the U.S. She shares her message of unity and social justice through interactive advocacy workshops, antiracism efforts, poetry readings, and talks. Melissa has published two books of poetry "Home Work A Collection of Poems Sparked by One White Woman's Journey on the Matter of Race" and "Heart Work A Heart-Centered Collection of Poems" and "White Girl Homework," a self-guided workbook. She is also a contributing poet to the "South Carolina Bards Poetry Anthology" 2023, 2024, and "Finding Common Ground Leaning In To Listen." She was named the "Rise and Shine: What American Means To Me" State Winner by the South Carolina Society of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) with the entry of a photo and accompanying poem.
